The opening match of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will start on November 21, and the final will be held on December 18.

According to the official FIFA schedule, there will be four games a day in the group stage to ensure that each team has sufficient rest time. The kick-off times for the first two rounds are 13:00, 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00 local time. Since the last round will be conducted at the same time in the same group, the start time is at 18:00 and 22:00, and the group match lasts for 12 days.

The Gulf Stadium will host the opening match of the Qatar World Cup at 13:00 on November 21, 2022, local time. The stadium has 60,000 seats. The name and shape of the stadium are inspired by the tents used by local nomads in the Gulf. All matches in the group stage will be kicked off at the four time points of 13:00, 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00 local time. The knockout stage matches will be held at 18:00 and 22:00 local time. The Khalifa International Stadium will host three or four finals on December 17. The final will be held at the Russell Stadium, which can accommodate 80,000 people, at 18:00 local time the next day.

The Qatar World Cup group stage will last 12 days, with 4 matches being played every day. This not only ensures that the team is fully adjusted during the game, but also allows fans to have plenty of time to make arrangements for the game. The unique natural advantages of the venue ensure that the venues can be reached directly by land transportation, allowing the organizers to better optimize the schedule to ensure that fans, teams and media personnel get the best experience.

After the international competition day in March 2022, all teams will hold a lottery ceremony to determine the final match schedule. After the draw is over, the organizing committee will further discuss the possibility of adjusting the kick-off time of each game, so as to provide a favorable game time for fans of each national home team watching the game at home and fans watching the game in Qatar.

Due to the close distance between the stadiums and the benefit of Qatar’s excellent climate during the World Cup, it also provides much convenience for the organizers to adjust the event time. The fans also have the opportunity to watch multiple group matches on the same day.

For fans who plan to go to Qatar to watch the game, hotel reservations are expected to start at the end of 2020. Ticket sales to the public will be conducted through FIFA.com, and details such as timetables, stages, categories and prices will be released in due course.

At the same time, detailed information about the World Cup qualifiers on all continents can be inquired on FIFA.com. The latest schedule of relevant international competitions that have been forced to adjust the schedule due to the COVID-19 epidemic can also be found here.
